If you own or lease LAND in Decentraland then you will probably be interested in bringing your project ideas to life. The Builder tool is great for more basic projects, but the possibilities are currently very limited.
If you want to build a real business or extravagant project that will stand out in Decentraland, then you will either need to hire somebody who already knows how, or teach yourself.
The Skills You Need
If you have a limited budget for your Decentraland project, and a little time on your hands, then why not invest in yourself and learn how to use the tools you need to succeed.
To successfully build advanced LAND designs, you need to teach yourself:
- How to use the Blender software
- How to use the Decentraland SDK 6.0
If you have no experience in design or coding, then this may seem a daunting task. However, if you have the time to persevere and invest in yourself by reading and watching free video tutorials, you will be able to unleash all your creativity and find a whole new world open up to you.
1 – Learn Blender
Blender is free and open 3D creation software. There are many videos available online offering tutorials, but if you’re starting with no knowledge at all, then we recommend you download Blender for free here, then let Tobias guide you through the basics. This flamboyant presenter has created many videos taking you slowly through Blender, step by step, and using very little jargon.
2- Learn How To Use The Decentraland SDK
Decentraland has created some great documentation to read through if you want to learn how to use their Software Development Kit. We are expecting a comprehensive list of video tutorials to follow in the near future, but for now it is a good idea to apply for the Decentraland SDK by submitting your email here, then practice using it whilst reading through the documents.
It is free to use, and there is a great community in the Decentraland Discord #building and #developer channels who will support you all the way.
Investing in yourself is the road to riches. However, it takes time. If you find yourself learning some skills and not others, there is always help at hand.
However, if it all becomes too much to learn, or it’s not sinking in, then there are other resources available such as hiring Decentraland skills and services at DCL Rialto, or reaching out in Discord to the friendly Decentraland developer community.
